Squan Plaza has several events planned as the weather warms starting with an Electric Car Show: An Earth Day Drive-n-Ride event on Sun., April 23 from noon to 3 p.m. It is sponsored by the Manasquan Environmental Commission in Partnership with Circle BMW. There will be a charge point electric car charging stations available. Ride/drive BMW i3s and talk with local environmental groups.
The second event at Squan Plaza is the annual antique, craft, flea market and bake sale which is at the plaza Fri., May 28 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Call 732.714.6519 to reserve a table at $30 or$40 with a car.
As wonderful as the beach is, take some time to get yourself some culture. The Garden State Philharmonic is playing The Magic of Mozart at the Spring Lake Theatre on Third Ave., Sat., April 29 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $40.
Please note: Officials in Spring Lake have expanded the time bike riders can cruise the boardwalk. The new times are 10 p.m. to 8 a.m. replacing the previous 6 a.m. to 8 a.m.
Surfs Up! Surfing fans will want to head to Belmar for the New Jersey State Surfing Championships May 6 and 7. The competition will divide surfers into age groups and amateurs as well as professionals who are also welcome to compete.
Patrick’s Pub in Neptune City is one fun place. Not only good food and drink but a place to show off your talent with an open mic night every Wednesday and Karaoke Thursdays with DJ Butch. The annual Weekend in Old Monmouth Tour is set for May 6 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sun., May 7 from noon to 5 p.m. with three new sites added to this year’s tour. They are: Crawford House c.1920 in Tinton Falls which commemorates three generations of the Crawford family who ran a butcher shop at the site in the town’s historic district; Spring Lake Historical Society Museum, which is dedicated to that town’s local history and connection to surrounding communities and Stephen Crane House c. 1778 in Asbury Park, which was home to the fames author of “The Red Badge of Courage.”

On New Year’s Eve the Asbury Festhalle and Biergarten on Lake Avenue in Asbury Park is holding a family holiday celebration beginning at 4 p.m. with live music and activities fro the kids. At 6 p.m. attendees can watch the German New Year’s Eve ball drop.
The Jersey Shore Running Club is holding its 13th annual Twilight Two-Mile Fun Run/Walk & Party on Sat., Dec. 31 at 4 p.m. T-shirts will be given to all pre-registered runners and walkers. The feast of the seven fishes will be served this year on Christmas Eve at Nonno’s in Bradley Beach. For those of Italian descent this is the main stay at Christmas Eve. The meal is $30 and includes seafood salad, whipped baccala, octopus, stuffed calamari, limoncello cured salmon, shrimp cocktail and pan fried clams. Coffee and Dessert are included.
For an new take on an old idea Bay Head has Santa’s Truck, a decorated classic 72 Ford pick up truck that is all decked out. The truck is on display and available for photo ops until Dec. 24.
