Neptune Township Real Estate

Known as the “Crossroads of the Jersey Shore”, Neptune was incorporated as a borough on October 4, 1881*. Named after the Roman God of the Sea, Neptune is remarkably diverse while spanning approximately 8.6 square miles while bordered by the Atlantic Ocean on the east and the Garden State Parkway on the west. The township is home to several distinct communities including: Ocean Grove; Shark River; Seaview Island; The Gables; Mid-Town; West Neptune and Bradley Park. From the historic charm of Ocean Grove to the regional trauma center of the Jersey Shore Medical Center; Jumping Brook Golf Club; the Neptune Aquatic Center; the award-winning Midtown Elementary School, Shark River golf Course; Shark River Marina and Yacht Club, Neptune Township is resource rich and has “something for everyone”.

Shark River Hills – In 1923, “A Healthy Place to Raise Children Amidst the Fresh Air and Pines” was the slogan for Shark River Hills when it opened as a summer resort.* “The Hills” as it is popularly known, rests overlooking a scenic waterfront. A convenient commute to New York City, and small town living, are two of the many benefits of living in Shark River Hills.

Seaview Island – Accessed by bridge or boat, Seaview Island features quiet streets lined by vintage-style lamp posts illuminating private roads and cul-de-sac’s. Residents and visitors are greeted by a park at the entrance of this townhome community.

Bradley Park – Historically rich and influential in neighboring towns’ growth, Bradley Park experienced a late 19th century building boom which stimulated interest in the neighboring seaside resorts of Ocean Grove and Asbury Park. Named for the founder of Asbury Park, James Bradley, Bradley Park today is a robust retail and business center while remaining a desirable residential place to live.

The Gables – Conveniently located to business and shopping, The Gables is a unique and desirable residential area within Neptune Township. An active Gables Resident Association encourages a diverse involved community. Mid-Town – Culturally significant and steeped in musical history, Mid-town is in Northwest Neptune Township. In it’s heyday, Mid-Town boasted many restaurants, night clubs and churches. The famous Carver Hotel was the home away from home for renowned musicians including Cab Calloway, Lena Horne and Joe Louis. Today, Mid-Town is home to the impressive and award-winning Mid-Town Elementary School. Constructed as a sustainable site, the school was awarded the “Platinum LEED Award” (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) by the United States Green Council. Mid-Town is the largest public school in North America to receive this prestigious award.**

West Neptune – One of the oldest parts of Neptune Township, The “Hamilton Section” of West Neptune was home to a Native American ridge trail that ran from Highlands to the Metedeconk River, Jumping Brook Road, Old Corlies Avenue and Gully Road. Hamilton was originally a settlement called “Trap” and had connections by boat to Manhattan, and Manasquan, also referred to as the fishing port of Squan Village.*** Today West Neptune residents enjoy a residential community close to Shark River Park, a 586-acre preserve featuring fishing, hiking, ice skating, cross country skiing, shuffle board and more. Membership is available for residents in the West Neptune Homeowners Association.
