Avon By The Sea

After Asbury Park, Bradley Beach and Long Branch were established, Avon was born. In 1897 an investor named Edward Batchelor purchased the seaside land initially to expand his tobacco company but because of the land’s beauty Mr. Batchelor was encouraged to develop it as a resort community. Supposedly the land lots sold in Avon set records for prices. Today Avon is a peaceful and pristine beach community featuring beautiful homes, great restaurants and a non-commercial boardwalk.
